Muay Thai

What is Muay Thai?

Muay Thai is a striking based martial art originating from Thailand. 'Muay Thai' literally means 'The Art of Eight Limbs' because it utilises eight points of contact: hands, feet / lower legs, knees and elbows.

As well as being a devastatingly effective striking system, Muay Thai is an incredibly good way to get fit.  While many people learn Muay Thai to compete in striking competitions, even more people learn it simply for the health and fitness benefits.

How do I know if it's right for me?

Muay Thai coule be right for you if you fall under any of the following catagories:

  • I want to get fit
  • I want to learn basic close quarters Self Defence
  • I want to learn to strike and spar for competitions
  • I want to supplement my MMA or regular Ju Jitsu training
  • I want to let off some steam in a positive and constructive manner

While a sparring option for students is available. you are under no obligation to do so.  Muay Thai can be effectively learned and practiced on various kinds of pads and equipment.  You will also wear the correct and appropriate safety gear to protect yourself.  You can discuss with your Instructor what will be most suitable for you.

How can I learn Muay Thai with LTMA?

LTMA does not currently provide Muay Thai classes for the general public.  However, we are able to provide private training for individuals and small groups if desired.
